Urban Studies Post-Election Roundtable

Date
Tue November 29th 2016, 12:00 - 1:30pm
Location
Building 120, room 224

Urban Studies will host a roundtable discussion of the presidential election with several or our distinguished faculty affiliates.  What happened on November 8, and what does it tell us about our cities and about our country?  What can we, and our cities, learn from it moving forward?  Come with your thoughts and questions; this will be an opportunity to learn from our panelists, and to share with one another.

The roundtable will take place Tuesday, November 29, from 12 to 1:30 pm, in building 120, room 215.

Featured speakers:
  • Doug McAdam, Ray Lyman Wilbur professor of Sociology and former director of the Urban Studies program; author of Deeply Divided: Racial Politics and Social Movements in Postwar America (2014);
  • Michelle Wilde Anderson, professor of Law, author of "The New Minimal Cities" (Yale Law J, 2014);
  • Carol McKibben, lecturer in Urban Studies, author of Racial Beachhead: Diversity and Democracy in a Military Town (2012)
We will serve lunch!  Please RSVP so we can order the right amount of food: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/8SQ7RGR

A second roundtable will be scheduled for early in winter quarter, which will focus on the likely policies of the new administration, and on how cities and their residents can respond to the new environment.  Watch your email for details!

I hope to see you there on the 29th; have a great Thanksgiving!
