Why I'm majoring in Urban Studies: I love how the Urban Studies program provides an interdisciplinary education that values sustainability, design, and social justice! I was able to create my own self-designed concentration in Urban Health that allowed me to explore my interests in public health, the built environment, and environmental justice. Because of the flexibility of the major, you're able to take courses across different schools and majors and learn from a wide array of professors across different fields. The core courses are also really well taught and I liked that they covered various aspects of urban studies ranging from sociology, history, and education to urban design. Finally, the Junior and Senior seminar requirements provide the support and opportunity to carry out your own original research project, which is pretty unique to the program!

What I like best about Urban Studies: The close-knit community! Not only are the faculty incredible and approachable, but I have learned so much from my peers in my Urban Studies classes.
