Sustainable Cities is a project-based, service-learning class where students collaborate with Bay Area NGOs and government agencies to support their sustainability efforts.

The Winter 2014 class is working with four community partners on the following projects:

  1. creating a feasibility study for establishing a farmers market at a health clinic in North Fair Oaks (San Mateo County Health Department);
  2. defining and evaluating a potential transportation demand management program for cities along the Caltrain rail corridor (Friends of Caltrain);
  3. conducting oral histories and creating a map of residents who have faced evictions in San Francisco (Anti-Eviction Mapping Project), and
  4. re-envisioning Golden Gate Park to be accessible for all users (San Francisco Bicycle Coalition).
